Michael was selected to New England Super Lawyers list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice. Only 5% of attorneys in New England receive this distinction. For over a decade Michael has been selected annually by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, in the area of Personal Injury Litigation (plaintiffs). Michael has also received the highest possible rating Peer Review Rating of AV Preeminent from Martindale-Hubbell.
Michael has represented, as lead or co-counsel, numerous plaintiffs who have recovered substantial sums by verdict or settlement. Michael graduated from the University of Vermont in 1976 and from John Marshall Law School with distinction in 1980. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of Vermont and the U. S. District Court for Vermont in 1980 and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in 1984. Following a one-year clerkship with Justice Robert Larrow of the Vermont Supreme Court in 1980 -1981, Michael began practicing in Burlington at Sylvester & Maley and later with Sylvester & Brow. Michael served as an associate member and member of the Board of Bar Examiners from 1996 – 2002. He is a former board member of the Aquatic Injury Safety Group.
